Diaspact’s Core Streams of Action:

This stream addresses the systemic and structural dimensions of human rights violations, ranging from racial and ethnic discrimination to state violence and the deprivation of essential needs. Grounded in a relational approach to justice, it centers the expertise and lived experience of affected communities to advance rights-based advocacy, institutional accountability, and transformative policy change. The aim is to foster equitable and inclusive societies where dignity, safety, and justice are upheld for all.

This stream examines disparities in health outcomes and healthcare access through the lens of structural inequality. It advocates for systems that recognize and respond to the social determinants of health, such as race, class, gender, and migration status, while emphasizing culturally safe and community-informed models of care. Key areas of focus include equitable access to mental health services, reproductive justice, and dismantling systemic barriers within public health infrastructure. The aim is to build health systems that are just, accessible, and responsive to the needs and rights of marginalized communities.

This stream explores education as both a site of exclusion and a potential tool for liberation. It promotes a decolonial and anti-oppressive approach to knowledge production and dissemination, calling for curricula and pedagogies that reflect diverse histories, epistemologies, and lived experiences. Core areas include access to quality education, civic and political literacy, and educational equity across racial, linguistic, and socio-economic lines. The aim is to reimagine education as a public good that empowers individuals and communities to engage critically and collectively in shaping democratic societies.

This stream situates climate change within a broader framework of environmental and social justice. It foregrounds the disproportionate impacts of ecological degradation on marginalized communities, particularly in the Global South and Indigenous territories. Areas of focus include environmental racism, food sovereignty, and community-led climate education. The aim is to advance climate solutions that are rooted in equity, sustainability, and self-determination, anchored in decolonial and community-based practices.
